Layla and Naila: A Handwritten Font for Authentic Branding

Layla and Naila in a Café Logo Mockup

As I opened my brand board for a new local café project, I knew the typography would be key. The client wanted something warm, approachable, and slightly whimsical—something that felt like a handwritten note from a friend. That’s when I first tested Layla and Naila, a Script Handwritten font with a bold twist. Its organic curves and subtle imperfections gave it an authentic feel, perfect for a café that sells handcrafted lattes and pastries.

I placed it on a logo draft, pairing it with a clean sans serif for balance. The result was inviting without being too playful. It felt like the kind of sign you’d see above a cozy corner shop, not a corporate chain. The Fonts choice here wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about telling a story through type.

Layla and Naila for Packaging Design

Next, I moved to packaging mockups. The café needed custom labels for their signature drinks and a branded bag design. Layla and Naila worked beautifully as a display font on the front of the labels. It added a personal touch that stood out against the minimalist background.

I noticed how the Script Handwritten style made the product feel more artisanal. Even on small surfaces like stickers or tags, the font maintained its charm without overwhelming the design. For the bag, I used it sparingly—just the café name and tagline—to keep the focus on the product while still making a statement.

Layla and Naila in Social Media Graphics

When designing social media posts for the café, I wanted the content to feel consistent across platforms. Layla and Naila became my go-to for headlines and captions. Whether it was an Instagram post promoting a new latte flavor or a Facebook event invite for a weekend brunch, the font helped create a cohesive visual identity.

The Fonts choice had a direct impact on audience engagement. Posts using Layla and Naila received more likes and comments than those with generic fonts. People responded to the authenticity and warmth it brought to the visuals. It was clear that this Script Handwritten font resonated with the target demographic—an audience looking for real, human connection in their coffee experience.

Layla and Naila for Website Headers and Navigation

On the website, I used Layla and Naila for the hero section heading. The boldness of the font made it stand out against the soft background, drawing attention to the café’s name. However, I made sure to pair it with a complementary sans serif font for navigation and body text to maintain readability and accessibility.

Testing different weights and styles of the Fonts was important here. I found that the lighter version worked best for headings, while the bolder weight added emphasis to calls to action. This flexibility made it easy to integrate into the web design without sacrificing professionalism.

Layla and Naila in Print Materials

For printed marketing materials like flyers and menus, Layla and Naila proved to be a versatile choice. It looked great on a menu card, where the handwritten feel added a sense of intimacy. On flyers, it was used for the main headline, paired with a clean typeface for the supporting text.

I also tested it on business cards and found that the Script Handwritten style gave them a unique edge. It wasn’t too casual to be unprofessional, but still carried that personal, handwritten quality. It was the perfect balance for a small business trying to stand out in a competitive market.

Layla and Naila for Brand Consistency

One thing I learned early on is that Layla and Naila works best when used consistently across all brand assets. It shouldn’t be overused, but rather reserved for key elements like logos, headers, and callouts. This helps maintain visual hierarchy and ensures the font doesn’t become distracting.

It’s also worth noting that the Fonts come with a range of styles and alternates, which gives designers more control over the final look. Whether I needed a more elegant version for a poster or a casual one for a social media caption, there was always an option that fit the need.

Layla and Naila for Client Presentations

When presenting the final brand identity to the café owner, the use of Layla and Naila was a big selling point. It aligned perfectly with their vision and helped communicate the brand’s personality effectively. The client loved how it added character to every element, from the logo to the packaging.

I also recommended testing the Script Handwritten font with different color palettes and backgrounds to ensure it worked well in various contexts. This practical advice helped the client understand how to use the font responsibly in their own branding efforts.
